ICFF 2011 Parties – A Guest Post
This one’s a guest post from our friend Claire Anderson. Take it away, Claire:

Lamps by Iacoli & McAllister. Somehow like a brood of friendly jellyfish. Noho Design District show.
“Ooof, what a night. Going to ICFF parties is definitely a by-the-book, “New York”experience.

Hex Bottle Opener by Iacoli & McAllister at the Noho Design District party. Beautiful, functional, and oh-so-satisfying to hold in your hand. It’s the little things that count.
Beautiful things, beautiful people, beautiful spaces… and alcohol sponsors. Give me a highbrow cocktail in a plastic cup, served by a hot bartender with tattooed forearms, and yes, I will stare at your gorgeous lamp for hours. And then blog about it. At the beginning of the night, you are sufficiently chaste, responsibly pondering a display of lanyard-like accessories, wondering, “Is it a coincidence that so much jewelry is knit, knotted, or otherwise inspired by summer camp friendship bracelets?” before finally caving, looking at Aurora, and saying “So, um, where is the beer table?”

Ombre-dyed rope bracelets by Tanya Aguiniga at the Noho Design District Party. Lightweight and soft. Like a chew toy for big girls.
At the end of the night, it’s a different story, and you make your way to the cocktail line as if on auto pilot.
No shame in that: the party at Matter featured Old New Orleans Louisiana Rum, a New Orleans-based, small batch rum distillery that’s actually neighbors with Fair Folks’ NOLA location.

Shy Light by Bec Brittain at Matter. One of my faves. Went well with the Old New Orleans rum, but I imagine you’d feel sexy drinking just about anything underneath it.
It was also the best match-up of the night: a sufficiently dark and stormy drink to complement all the wood, brass, and molten mirror in the space. Sweet.”
Big thanks to Claire!
Coming back at you, soon, guys,
Aurora
