ICFF 2011 Social Scene
Are any of you guys going to any of these events or walking the show? I walked ICFF at the Javits Center today, and found some cool pieces that I want to show you tomorrow. After a full day of walking (in heels – don’t know what I was thinking…), I was too zonked to make the rounds at the parties again. I have so many highlighted for Monday night, that I had to give myself a break so I could gear up again.
You see, it’s a lot of contemplating product, but it’s also marathon socializing. Fun but tiring. Take a look at some of the crowds I saw last night:
At The Future Perfect’s Variety, they debuted lighting by Lindsey Adelman and Jason Miller, Prototype Lamps built onsite in the window (quite a show) by Matt Gagnon, Richard Saja’s toile fabrics and more:
Next we went to The Noho Design District and Sight Unseen, which filled the whole American Design Building, three floors packed full with very cool new product and interesting folks. There was really too much to list out there – McMasterpieces, Uhuru, Sight Unseen’s pop-up shop Wearables, The American Design Club’s USE ME exhibition…. on and on.
Our next stop was Bobby Berk Home where they presented with StyleFactory.com and Design Milk – it was all about interactivity and (frankly slightly silly) fun. Cupcakes with toppings like bacon were available, pina coladas and whatnot to drink, an interactive screen for texting in messages publicly, a voting system that would ultimately determine what prototype would be manufactured, and a photobooth setup with a chair (that… I don’t know that I would want, personally). It was a veritable circus.
Finally, there was Matter on Broome Street, showing their latest, Matter Made Collection Number Two. Loved loved a few of their pieces, psyched to see a bit of New Orleans in NYC, and enjoyed the crowds as per usual:
Fun to recap! I’m just getting used to my camera, and the concept of pulling it out so frequently, so this has been a great exercise in ‘photojournalism.’
Until next time,
Aurora

Oh I totally understand you! Walking around so many booths…But I have to say, it is a good opportunity to take some air off the office and have some fun working. This year I took the opportunity to see what I missed in Milan, like Kartell exhibition which I heard was great! Oh, and DELIGHTFULL too. One brand has nothing to do it the other I Know. Delightfull is a new brand who pays tribute to the classics and Kartell is officially a huge name in the market. Anyway if there is anyone interested in pieces with vintage touch, take a look: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Delightfull/379055705127
